Nunc Coepi is Latin for “now I begin”. I have been on my journey of learning, growing, and deepening my relationship with God for a few years now. But I have now decided to begin sharing my journey with you. I wish to share my journey and experiences of life as a (Roman) Catholic through this blog and social media.

I grew up surrounded by Catholics, but it wasn’t until recently that I claimed it as mine. I knew that I was going to stay with Catholicism forever, because I personally held a deep fear of hell, and a longing to know God. I chose to receive the sacrament of confirmation at the age of sixteen, the name I chose was St. Gianna Molla, of whom was a doctor in Italy and was canonized as a Saint in 2004. But, truthfully, I didn't choose her, she choose me.

At the age of twenty-one I got a star constellation tattooed onto my right forearm. I chose the Taurus star constellation because it resembles a bull. A bull to me resembles strength. Strength through the hardest of times, through pains, successes, sadness, and joys. A bull also means stubborn. I know, and sometimes find myself ashamed for it, but I am stubborn more often than not. This constellation reminds me to look up to the Heavens for His assistance, it reminds me to be strong and stand my ground, even when I am feeling weak.

Recently, I added a tattoo on my right wrist in a scripted font that says “Psalm 147:4” Which says, if you look it up, “He counts the stars and calls each by name.” If God counts the stars, a small but mighty object all the way out there in the middle of nowhere, then how much do you think He cares for us? For those He created in His image, His very likeness? Do you not think He calls each of us by our name? A name is a powerful thing.

I am a very emotional person, it is hard for me to control my tears, I cry when I laugh, I cry when I am sad, I cry when you are hurt, when I am hurt. I cry in the confessional, I cry when I am happy. I do not think everyone cries as much as I do, but I do believe God made me feel deeply for everyone. When I think of my star tattoo, paired with the scripture, my heart goes out to Him, to God. He loves me so much, and I wish you could feel even just a piece of the love He has for you today, and everyday of your life.

Nunc Coepi is where I share my experiences living a fully Catholic life, embracing my religion, with everyone interested, curious, or bored. It is where I share what I've learned or am learning about life.
